Playing music for all these many years, folks have approached me at shows to ask, “why don’t you write a book about all your music experiences?” Over time, I thought more and more about doing just that, but I decided to give it a twist.
One thing I’ve noticed is that no matter who you are, or what type of music you play, we all start from a very similar place. Most of our beginnings are very humble, starting in a garage and learning along the way. Learning, not just the craft, but about getting along with band mates, and more generally, learning about life.
For this reason, I decided to create a fiction story based on lots of different bands, different personalities and different levels of success. Some lucky groups make it big, while some disband after only a short time together.
“Forever the Constellations” is a combination of all these scenarios. It’s a story about what the public sees, juxtaposed with what happens internally in a band, and it’s dedicated to everyone who has ever stood in the spotlight and entertained an audience.
